A streaming platform confirmed a second season for one of its most-watched original dramas, following six consecutive weeks atop the service’s weekly viewership charts.
The show, a multi-generational family drama, became a surprise word-of-mouth hit after its debut season, with viewership building steadily rather than peaking in its opening week.
“We didn’t expect the slow-burn pattern,” a platform executive said. “Usually we see a spike and a drop-off. This one kept climbing for a month.”
Production is expected to begin later this year, with most of the principal cast returning alongside two new additions announced in the renewal statement.
The creative team has been tight-lipped about plot direction for the new season, though the showrunner hinted in a brief interview that the timeline would jump forward by roughly two years.
